Report

Our last home game of the season of a fantastic campaign started wonderfully for the away team. Earlestown were well up for this game as they needed victory to ensure a playoff game against Crosfields to see who would finish 2nd. After just 5 minutes Earlestown kicked off the scoring, at this point our lads realised that they were in for a tough match, after falling behind for only the 3rd time this season, 0-1. To our credit it took only 2 minutes to level. Bob collected the ball 40 yards out and stormed down the line towards the by-line, and then delivered a brilliant deep cross to Lucas waiting at the far post, Lucas tapped home. 1-1. On 15 minutes Mason charged into a tackle, won it cleanly and passed to Lucas. Lucas on the angle raced toward goal and smashed the ball past the goalie at his near post, for his 15th goal of the season!. 2-1. The first half was littered with great performances, especially in defence, with Owen and Dominic really taking charge and showing how there partnership has really blossomed this season, and Mason who has hit top form recently with yet another amazing performance. Harry and Ed also dominated the midfield and with the help of Bob up front proved to be a awesome attacking trio. But let’s not forget Conor’s and Lucas’s hard graft when attacking, some of there skill was amazing. HT 2-1.

We started the 2nd half the way we started the 1st, by giving an early goal away!. Thirty seconds was all it took for us to fall asleep and give a very soft goal away. 2-2. Again this sparked us into life, step up Jamie!. Jamie had a very quiet game until the 41st minute, and had a simply brilliant 10 minutes. Conor knocked a great ball wide to Bob, and then Bob lobbed a fantastic ball into the box, we had 3 lads to choose from but it was Jamie who reacted first and beautifully lobbed the goalie. 3-2. On 47 minutes Earlestown took a quick goal kick, thankfully Ed was alert and tackled the defender, and then knocked the ball into the box, which left Jamie 1on1 with the goalie. Jamie made his tackle and came out with the ball and slotted into an empty net. 4-2. Within a minute Jamie collected his 3rd hattrick of the season and his 18th goal. Harry’s pass to Jamie, Jamie’s skill and then composure to skip round the goalie and slot home made the score 5-2, and effectively killed the game off. 5-2. With only a few minutes remaining we won a corner. Adam stepped up and delivered a great ball to the back post which fell to Reece, his shot was saved and the rebound fell to Owen 8 yards out. Owen’s technique in despatching the ball on the half volley into the roof of the net over the tallest goalie in the league was fantastic. It was Owens first goal of the season from defence, after notching 11 last term from the left wing. 6-2. Moments later Earlestown had the last say by reducing the decifit, 6-3. Congratulations to Earlestown on a great season and we look forward to meeting them again next season in division 2. Today’s result was a land mark for the team, as we’ve only dropped points in one game this season at home and remained undefeated a fantastic achievement after being promoted last season. FT 6-3.

Congratulations lads we’re all so proud of you!!!!
