We started in 2007/2008 at under 8's level with 13 players. We had a mixture of levels of ability, from lads who had never played before, to lads who were very 'clever' on the pitch. Each one of our players has improved emmensly, through hard work and determination. looking at our team a year on, you wouldn't think we had players who hadn't played before. We're all tremendously proud of all of the kids.
After finishing our first season together, we couldn't have been more pleased with the progress our lads have made. We played just 2 friendlies before the season started, with mixed results. A 5-3 defeat at the hands of Fife B team, a fantastic performance and were very unlucky not to get something out of the game. Then we had an 11-0 thrashing at the hands of Appleton A team, a true men against boys encounter. We started the season losing the first 8 games, the results were not in question, but the performances got better and better, which was great encouragement for the kids. After the first game was lost 6-0 within 8 games the kids improvement was starting to show, as we were down to 2-1. We then managed a 0-0 draw at which the kids were over the moon. From that moment on we started to to pick up more draws and wins, and were even givings teams that had beaten us earlier in the season, a good thrashing. A good team spirit, hard work and great bunch of parents to support the team, gave us a great end to our first full season.
Well done to all the lads for a fantastic first season, for all your efforts you have put in, and the work you have all done to improve yourselves and the team as a whole. Honours in full........
